Presentation Summary: As the NDT industry faces a work force shortage and rapidly growing inspection technologies simultaneously, advanced tools such as NDT Simulation become increasingly important. NDT Simulation helps in many ways from teaching new employees the physics of NDT, to testing the inspectability of designs before they are finalized. Additional benefits include testing computer prototypes of probes, providing complementary data for influential parameters’ impact in qualification processes, help in design of experiment for POD creation, evaluating different radiographic sources and optimizing inspection parameters. All these simulation benefits save companies significant time and money.

Speaker Bio: Ms. Erica Schumacher graduated from Rutgers University with degrees in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. She has over 20 years of NDT experience in both commercial and military environments. She was previously certified as a NAVSEA 250-1500-1 and MIL-STD-2132 test examiner in PT, MT, UT and RT.  She is Vice President of Extende Inc, distributor of CIVA NDE simulation software and TraiNDE NDE Simulators, where she supports customers throughout the US and Canada.  She is a member of the ASNT Hampton Roads Chapter in Virginia.
