About the Event
The Nondestructive Characterization Institute (NCI) and the Nondestructive Evaluation Group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) perform research and development and apply cutting edge methods and technologies to characterize and inspect materials, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies of national security interest. In this talk, Rosa Morales will provide a broad overview on our ultrasound (UT) diagnostic capabilities. There will be examples given of how and when we apply different (UT) methods, including contact UT, immersion UT, acoustic emission, resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, and laser-based ultrasound. The talk will focus on on-going research and development efforts which include the development of laser-based ultrasound diagnostics for in-situ monitoring and ex-situ materials characterization. This talk is geared for all audience members, regardless of level of experience with ultrasound.
